I saw Julie and Julia last night – it was so wonderful! A sweet, funny movie about people you’d really like to get to know (both couples). And the food! I recommend you eat dinner before you see the movie because otherwise you will be so hungry when you get out!
It reminded me of a crepe recipe I have that features butter (a key ingredient in the movie). This is a tender treat for anyone in braces or not.
1 cup milk
1 cup water
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspooon salt
1/4 cup butter, melted
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk and water until frothy. Slowly stir in flour and salt, then beat in the butter until batter is very smooth.
Heat a lightly oiled 7-inch frying pan at just above medium heat. Scoop about 1/4 cup of batter onto the pan. Swirl the batter immediately to coat the bottom of the pan. Cook the crepe for one-and-a-half minutes, then carefully flip it and cook the other side for one minute. You may need to turn the heat down a little after the first few crepes are done.
Serve the crepes sprinkled with powdered sugar or spread with a little jam, fresh fruit, Nutella, a chicken-cream sauce….you get the idea. You can stack them or roll them individually, too. Makes about 16 crepes.
